D-CENT event

Web We Want is a major festival spanning Sep 2014 – May 2015 that looks at the extraordinary impact the web has had on individuals, governments and societies at large. Next festival weekend will be held in May 28-31 2015. On the 30th of May, D-CENT will participate a panel about Digital Governments, together with Michael Sani, Tom Loosemore and Tom Chatfield.

The Web We Want festival celebrates the Web’s 25th anniversary. It is dedicated to the idea that the World Wide Web can empower people to bring about positive change both in their own life and in the lives of others. How we can guarantee a free and open Web and how we as individuals can be free on the Web?

The speakers include Timothy Berners-Lee, Katherine Brown, Tom Chatfield, Adam Clarke, Stephen Coleman, Sarah Dillon, Sara Feenan, Andres Guadamuz, and Anne Jellema, among others. View speakers here.

D-CENT’s project coordinator Francesca Bria has been invited to talk in a panel about Digital Governments. How can tech serve the people? Organised on the 30th of May at 1:30pm – 2:30pm (Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall), the panel includes Mike Sani, CEO of Bite The Ballot, a party-neutral movement to empower young voters; and Tom Loosemore, Deputy Director of Digital Strategy at Government Digital Service. The session is chaired by Tom Chatfield, writer and commentator and author of How to Thrive in the Digital Age.

Web We Want is a global movement to defend, claim and change the future of the Web. The festival is inspired by the pioneering work of the World Wide Web Foundation and the global ‘Web We Want’ campaign.
