Crowdsourcing in Legislation

| All day
Venue: Stockholm University, Faculty of Law, Universitetsvägen 10/Frescativägen 6, Stockholm, Sweden
D-CENT event

Crowdsourcing in Legislation conference will look into US and European practices of crowdsourcing and try to assess whether indeed crowdsourcing helps improving the overall legitimacy and performance of legislation be it parliamentary enacted legislation or statutory instruments.

Over the last decades, spurred on by the arrival and mass use of new technologies, the self-evidence of indirect participation by way of elected representatives as the common route for public engagement in enacting legislation is being questioned more and more.

This conference will look into crowdsourcing and new ways of engaging the public in legislation. One of the sessions will be dedicated to crowdsourcing between technological possibilities and legal requirements.

D-CENT partner, Open democracy expert Joonas Pekkanen will be speaking as a keynote about Finnish experiences in crowdsourcing of legislation in practice. View the whole programme here.

The event is organised by the Faculty of Law at Stockholm University (and its Institute for Legal Informatics) along with the International Association of Legislation (IAL) in Stockholm.

Democracia en Red y Tecnopolítica. Transformaciones del espacio electoral y nuevos prototipos post 15M

- | 10:00-17:30
Venue: Barcelona, Spain
D-CENT event
