Economic Forum

-
Venue: Krynica-Zdrój, Poland
D-CENT event

Organized since 1992, the Economic Forum has become one of the most important economic events in Europe attended by political and business elites. The 24th Economic Forum in Poland will have six Plenary Sessions and more than 100 panel discussions, lectures of the personalities of the public sphere, workshops and round table discussions.

One of the panel discussions is themed “Local E-Government: Wishful Thinking or Reality?”. It will include nine panelists, among which there’s Joonas Pekkanen, Open Democracy Expert form the D-CENT project and Forum Virium Helsinki.

Panel – Local E-Government: Wishful Thinking or Reality?

Services provided by EU local e-governments are increasingly better, but the citizens’ expectations are higher and higher. According to the EU roadmap in 2015, more than 50% of the EU citizens and 80% of the companies shall be served by e-administration. The EU countries are able to support the development of e-administration (at all levels) from EU funds. It is important, however, that electronic solutions introduced by the local governments should be in line with those at the central administration level. Another major problem for e-administration is private data protection.

Panelists:

  • Joonas Pekkanen, Open Democracy Expert, D-CENT project, Forum Virium Helsinki, Finland
  • Alexander Aygistov, General Director, Russian Agency for Development of the Information Society, Russia
  • Daniel Kaplan, Co-founder & Director General, Fondation Internet Nouvelle Generation (FING), France
  • Lidia Terrones, Head of Internal Affairs, Department of Education, Catalonian Government, Spain
  • Roman Dmowski, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Administration and Digitization, Poland
